聘请信（letters of employment）主要用于聘请对方前来工作、讲学等。这种信需写明聘请的目的、给予对方的待遇以及聘请期限。有时可用一些表示崇敬的语句，如这封信中写的“As you are a world well-known scholar and doctor in….”即是。由于这种信多半是写给不认识的人的，所以要用较为正式的文体和格式来写，表示对对方的尊重。
